A Closer Look at Jonathan Larson’s Legacy at Adelphi

Jonathan Larson ’82, the creator of the musicals Rent and tick, tick… BOOM! who changed musical theater forever, “was a standout talent in the early stages of Adelphi’s theater program,” Adelphi President Christine M. Riordan, PhD, said in a video about the Jonathan Larson Scholarship Fund. “This [fund] will ensure Adelphi students can follow in Jonathan’s footsteps for many years to come.”

The Pooles Honored for Supporting the Arts at Adelphi

When Mary Jane ’62 and Thomas Poole received the President’s Award for Distinguished Service at the 2022 President’s Gala, President Christine Riordan praised the Pooles as “champions of the arts at Adelphi.” They sponsor the “Poole Family Broadway Series,” which showcases professionals and students at the Performing Arts Center.

Adelphi University’s PAC has been recognized among the 35 Best University Performing Arts Centers in the U.S. by Clickit Ticket—which described it as “a haven of creativity” and one of “the best places in the United States to see dynamic student productions as well as those by world-renowned artists.”
