To celebrate the opening of the new Performing Arts Center, the Saturday evening performance of each of the season-launching productions held a festive gala performance (black tie optional). Each of the three gala evenings included a special post-event champagne/meet-the-artist reception.

Gala Evening for RENT
September 27, 2008 | 8:00 p.m. | Olmsted Theatre

Fresh from its award-winning Broadway run, this musical by our own alumnus Jonathan Larson ’82 hits the Adelphi stage in a brand new production. David Glenn Armstrong '82 Director, and Kerry Prep '79 Musical Director, and Regina Larkin '77, M.A. '90 Choreographer, all colleagues of Jonathan round out the artistic alumni team. RENT is an emotionally stirring story of a community of young artists struggling to live and celebrate life.

Dance Gala: In Search of a Goddess
Gala Evening for In Search of a Goddess

A dramatic evening of dance focusing on the visionary American modern dancer (and Adelphi Dance Department founder) Ruth St. Denis. This visual feast is written by Fran Kirmser with choreography and performances by Dalia Carella, direction by Jon Cantor and will feature our Dance Department dancers.

Music Gala: Titans (Adelphi Symphony Orchestra)
Gala Evening for Titans

The Adelphi Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Lyndon-Gee, with guest pianist Simon Mulligan, presents a spectacular program featuring Beethoven's Emperor Concerto and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, "Titan". This concert marks the official opening of Long Island’s newest and most intimate concert hall.
